How does Laser Genesis work?
Utilising the 1064nm wavelength, Laser Genesis gently heats the upper dermis stimulating collagen growth which reduces wrinkles, pores and scars, and smoothens and softens skin texture. It also targets dilated superficial capillaries reducing redness. A unique thermal monitor incorporated in the genesis laser system ensures that the epidermis is protected so, apart from mild redness which fades quickly, there is no downtime and you can return to normal activities immediately.
Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anaesthetics or gel.
What should I expect during the Laser Genesis procedure?
You will have an initial consultation with Dr Csilla or Nurse Fay to ensure that the laser genesis procedure is suitable and safe for you.
The treatment time varies, but is usually around 30 minutes depending on the area to be treated.
You will be placed in a reclining position and protective eye shields will be placed over your eyes. Dr Csilla or Nr Fay will hold the laser handpiece about 2 cm above your skin surface, moving the beam of laser light back and forth over the treatment area. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin surface (a little like being in the sunlight or a feeling of warm raindrops falling on your skin). Many patients comment that it is a pleasant and relaxing sensation.
After the treatment is completed your skin will be pink to red, but it will fade quickly (over an hour or so). You can elect to put on some mineral makeup and can immediately return to normal activities, practicing strict sun protection.
How quickly after my Laser Genesis will I see results?
The first treatment results are subtle and usually only noticeable after 4 – 6 weeks (the time it takes for your body to produce new collagen). On average, you will require about six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. The treatments are usually spaced 2-3 weeks apart.
Over the course of several treatments, you will notice that your skin becomes smoother and has a more youthful glow. You will see a more even, healthy, “creamy” complexion, as large pores are reduced in size, and redness and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.
For best results, a course of treatments is often performed every year or at regular intervals (think of it as preventative maintenance).

Are there any complications or side effects of Laser Genesis?
Any laser procedure can result in an adverse outcome. Side effects of Laser Genesis are rare but may include:
- Prolonged redness (lasting more than 4 hours)
- Swelling – is usually very mild and settles quickly
- Urticaria (hives)
- Bruising, skin irritation, pigment changes and infection are extremely rare as this is a non-invasive procedure
Occasionally, certain conditions may not respond to treatment or may require multiple treatments for effect.
